The Corvette-exclusive Performance Data Recorder could make it into other cars in the future, as technology developer Cosworth plans to offer it to other automakers as well as regular customers.
According to Motor Trend, Cosworth is considering producing aftermarket data recorders that can be mounted on just about any vehicle. The devices would be paired to a wireless camera to be created by GoPro, the aforementioned source reports.
However, with the technology exclusive to the Chevrolet Corvette right now, there’s no timetable as to when and how the Performance Data Recorder will become available in new cars and stores, although Motor Trend says that Cosworth’s talks with GoPro “could signal that Chevrolet’s exclusivity isn’t for long”.
The Performance Data Record, which will become available in the 2015 Corvette Stingray, was recently showcased at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Follow this link to learn more about it.
