Who wouldn’t want a free BMW 1-Series to drive around in? Well, in China, a lucky and very perseverant young man won the right to drive the car for the next 5 years, after keeping his hand ‘glued’ to it for 4 days and 3 nights, a total of 87 hours.
The ‘who can keep their hand on the BMW’ contest took place in the Chinese city of Chengdu and, at first, had 120 participants which were slowly ‘taken’ by hunger and sleep depravation. The winner of the contest, 27 year-old Song Changjiang triumphed after all his adversaries were either sleeping or (probably) in the hospital.

Song’s determination is admirable, but BMW could have devised a more intelligent way to give away the car, as this type of competition is stupid. It puts participants’ health at risk, and people who unknowingly had bad health could even die if attempting a feat such as this. Apparently, such contests were commonplace in the US, until an unfortunate event made them not want to organize one ever again.
