Chevrolet Traverse Production Suspended for 2 Months

General Motors recently announced that it will suspend the production of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse crossover as the company transfers the necessary equipment to manufacture the car to another facility. The American manufacturer currently builds the Traverse in Spring Hill, Tennessee and will continue to do so until November, according to a statement of company spokesman Chris Lee.

The American manufacturer will then move production of the crossover to Delta Township, which currently makes Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia.

"I can't give you the exact time frame it'll be down, but it'll be a couple months if not longer," Chris Lee was quoted as saying by Autonews.

Chevrolet Traverse is a crossover powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that develops 281 horsepower (210 kW) at 6,300 rpm and 266 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. Mated to an automatic 6-speed transmission and featuring a front wheel drive, the car achieves a fuel consumption rating of 17 mpg (13.8 L/100Km) city and 24 mpg (9.8 L/100Km) highway.

The car comes equipped with several airbags, including frontal and side-impact for driver and front passenger and head curtain side-impact for all rows in outboard seating positions. Other features include daytime running lights, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, tire pressure monitor ystem, power windows and power mirrors.

The 2010 model year is offered with an USB port included with premium radios. "Located in the center console, it connects portable music devices to the vehicle’s audio system and charges batteries of some hand-held items," as the American manufacturer wrote in the description of the car.
