Introducing the 2015 Chevrolet City Express van, which is actually not a General Motor product in the true and complete sense of the world, but a Nissan NV200.
Transforming a Nissan into a Chevy sounds complicated, but the changes are quite small in fact. the GM version joins the plastic power bumper with the body panel that separated it from the grille to make a cleaner design. A new grille and headlights are also added, but the rest of the body is pretty much the same.
The City Express will be built on the same Nissan assembly line as the NV200. Sales will start in the fall of 2014 and will be carried out exclusively in Canada and the US. No technical details are available at the moment, though Nissan's panel van is already available with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT gearbox.
"Our fleet customers have asked us for an entry in the commercial small van segment, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position with fleets and our commercial customers," stated Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial Sales.
