Chevrolet HHR Panel Flaming Skull from Hell

Some may call it a creative alliance between Chevrolet and Detroit's College for Creative Studies, some may call it a good way for GM to get some free designs for their soon to be released Chevrolet HHR Panel. Be that as it may, seven CCS juniors received a task of creating a version of the new Chevy that could appeal to younger audiences (between 18 and 25 years old).

“This project with CCS is an unique opportunity for Chevrolet to promote the HHR Panel to a specific audience while allowing students’ creativity to shine on the vehicles’ blank canvas. It’s a great way to demonstrate how to make the HHR Panel a perfect fit for its audience, whether it’s a large company, small business or an individual who just wants to be expressive. I think enthusiasts will be inspired by the student designs and we’ll see more customizing like this on the road” , said said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.

The winner of this campaign was Jim McCammon, who developed a project called “Skull from Hell”. He was named the winner after an executive team lead by Bob Lutz of GM, analysed all the entries. If you are interested, you can check out his work for yourself, because it will be displayed at the New York Auto Show.

What exactly McCammon won is not revealed, but I doubt that the only thing that comes out from his creation will be his 15 minutes of fame and the appreciation of his teachers. But still, it is flattering to hear nice words from the faculty, and this is exactly what Mark Zapico, chair of Advertising Design at CCS did:

“We are thrilled that students in our Integrated Marketing class have been asked to take on this exciting real-world project. It provides a perfect example of how the Chevrolet brand experience extends beyond traditional media. The commitment by Chevrolet and the time they have given to enriching the education of these students has been unbelievable.”
