Chandhok Fancies Force India Spot

Karun Chandhok admitted that he would like to drive for Force India in the near future, as his struggling experience with Hispania Racing F1 is certainly not something that he was expecting in his first season in Formula One.

The Indian driver is currently partnering with Bruno Senna for HRT F1 in 2010, but he formerly tested for Force India prior to signing his deal with the Spanish outfit. And, considering the fact that F1 will travel to India for the 2011 season for Formula One, having an Indian driver driving for an Indian team in an Indian GP would likely by a huge success for everyone involved in the series.

I'd love to drive for Force India at some point in my career, whether it happens next year or not, because I think in some ways I'm an ambassador for the sport in our country,” said the 26-year old Chandhok prior to this weekend's race in Montreal.

A lot of what happens to the sport in that part of the world depends on us a little bit, and I think if you have an Indian driver in an Indian car at the Indian grand prix, it's a no-brainer in terms of ticket sales,” added the former GP2 racer.

His wish might not come true any time soon though, as Force India's owner Vijay Mallya recently told the media that he doesn't see an Indian driver yet ready to step in an drive for his team. Additionally, the Silverstone based team has a great talent in DTM racer and current reserve driver Paul di Resta, who already confirmed his plans to push for an F1 entry with the team next year.

Under the circumstances, Chandhok's switch to Silverstone looks unlikely, something that the 26-year old Indian is quite aware of. Consequently, he reckoned that a HRT F1 might serve him right for the future.

If these guys carry out the plans which the (team owners) Carabantes have talked to me about, they can be a very competitive team in the future. So far they seem happy with what I'm doing. Jose Ramon is very keen to try to do something for next year as well,” added the Indian driver.
