Carl Edwards Takes All Star Race for the First Time

Last weekend has been perhaps one of the greatest for American manufacturer Ford, who managed once again to make a name for itself in NASCAR's no points race by helping Roush Fenway's Carl Edwards take his first win of an All Star race.

Also helped by an amazing work done by its crew during the mandatory four-tire pit stops before the final 10-lap shootout, Edwards managed to exit the pits first and fend off chaser Kyle Busch, finishing .443 seconds ahead of his competitor and taking home the $1.2 million prize.

"The key to winning this race are the guys behind me," Edwards said according to NASCAR. "Bob Osborne and my guys - especially the guys on pit road - they could have dropped the ball. That's all the pressure in the world on those guys.”

"They performed a flawless pit stop, and we got out in front of Kyle. He is a bear on those restarts, and if we had started behind him, I think it would have been really tough. It's unbelievable. I feel so bad about tearing up the car, but Bob says he has a faster one for next week, so I'm pretty excited. It still hasn't sunk in yet. This is the All-Star Race, and we just won it - it's crazy."

Edwards' win put Ford at the top of the All Star race manufacturers, becoming the seventh different Ford driver to win it. At the same time, the win has secured for Ford the third time the carmaker won both the Showdown and All-Star Race (David Ragan won this year's Showdown).
