Captain Kirk Goes Freestyle MX in the New Star Trek Beyond Movie

Star Trek and motorcycles have been two things that rarely intersected in the lengthy history of the series, but things are changing.

The next Star Trek movie, Beyond, which will premiere in 2016, includes some cool motorcycle action scenes, and we can only be happy seeing that bikes seem to become a new icon in the motion picture industry.

The first Star Trek Beyond trailer shows a movie that may seem like a bit too much for the fans of traditional ST series or movies. Indeed, the trailer, even though we loved it, looks like it takes Star Trek to the next level.

That is, putting together monumental scenery, intense fighting scenes, hand-to-hand combat with the usual dose of Kung-Fu moves nobody seems to be able to get rid of, not even in space and centuries from now on. And with a dash of Avatar DNA, the world the trailer shows looks majestic and Beyond might mix SciFi elements in a quite spectacular recipe.

As for the bike action, we can see that Captain Kirk is the man behind the handlebars. It looks like Cpt. Kirk, played by Chris Pine, also has Freestyle MX skills, as he rides fearlessly on extremely rough terrain and is not afraid to jump the bike into action.

Right now, it's hard to identify what bike Captain Kirk is using, but we can clearly see that it has asymmetric headlights. Obviously, this makes us think about a BMW, but there is no way we can be 100% positive we're looking at one. BMW's GX machines had a single headlight, and the start button doesn't look too BMW-ish either.

Most likely we'll have to wait for more trailers and then make a call. Anyway, Star Trek Beyond looks like a cool movie, so we'll be looking forward to watching it next summer.

Beyond is the seventh Star Trek movie made, and it will hit theaters on July 22 next year in the US.
