Last year, Audi took the famous character of captain Ahab from Herman Melville and made a commercial. Instead of harpooning whales, the new captain Ahab was a car tower, pulling the most interesting car "specimens" out of the snow when they got stuck. Yet there was one car that eluded him, the quattro, which never got stuck.
For this latest car commercial, Ahab hangs his towing hooks up to dry and tries to put the past behind him. Yet he can't haunted by the all-wheel drive monster which haunts him even in his dreams.
Actor Dave Florek plays the part to perfection. You really can tell he's haunted by the Audi, his wrinkled face showing years of hardship in the snow just for that one fateful moment when the quattro might make a wrong move. Arrrggh Ishmael, ready my harpoon!
