The words "I woke up in a new Bugatti" from GTA 5 held a lot of weight back in 2013 when they were first uttered by artists Future and Rick Ross on the Radio Los Santos station. In 2023, or right near the end, to be more exact, we're witnessing a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport try to hold its own against a souped-up Lamborghini Huracan with an insane 1,800-hp output. Will the Bugatti go home with the gold, or will the Lambo crush it?
First, we have the super classy Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, worth just a bit over $5,000,000. This beauty is based on the Chiron Super Sport 300+, which isn't just a pretty face, either. In 2019, it was the third fastest production car in the world, capable of reaching 305 mph or 490 kph.

The model from today's race is not that fast, but it's nothing to scoff at either, with a top speed of 273 mph or 439 kph. In its glory days, it was rated as the 7th fastest car in the world.

Responsible for those blistering speeds is its 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine that can output 1,578 hp (1,600 ps) and1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque. The downside is that it's not light on the scale, weighing in at 4,398 lbs. or 1,995 kg.

Facing it is a Lamborghini Huracan. However, it's not just any old Huracan, but an extremely beefed-up version that can deliver up to 1,775 hp or 1,800 ps.

Alas, for this race to be as fair as possible, it powered down its 5.2-liter V10 twin-turbo engine to output "just" 1,578 hp (1,600 ps) with 1,106 lb-ft or 1,500 Nm of torque. It weighs 3,637 lbs. or 1,650 kg. It's much cheaper than the Chiron Super Sport, at "only" 300,000 British pounds or $378,000.

Finally, we have "The Little Engine That Could" (not its actual name), a one-off custom WRX car. What was once a Mini now has a 2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine that can deliver up to 592 hp (600 ps) with 737 lb-ft or 1,000 Nm. Add 2,976 lbs. (1,350 kg) to the equation, and you have yourself an AWD contender.

The first race was one of the weirdest "carwow" has ever had. Mat Watson, hosting the show and driving the Bugatti, won but had a bad start and was slipping all over the place. The other two didn't perform any better in their own way. The Lamborghini lost its GPS signal, and the engine went into safety mode, cutting power just before the 1/4 mile mark.

During the second run, the drag racing gods still didn't favor the Huracan. It lost to both cars, with the Chiron in first place again. Interestingly, the WRX car beat the Bugatti off the line, and it was a sight to behold.

On the third attempt, the Lambo finally got its head in the game and performed as expected. It won the race, beating the Chiron by almost three car lengths, with the best score on the track that day.

The heavily tuned Lamborghini Huracan finished in 9.4 seconds. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport did it in 9.5 seconds, and the ex-Mini crossed the line in 10.4 seconds.

The situation is quite clear on the UK-based drag strip, but the fact still stands that the 0.1-second difference between the Lambo and Bugatti is worth about $4,662,370. Would you pay that much for an extra tenth of a second?
