Campos 2010 Car Receives FIA Homologation

It is now official. Campos Grand Prix has both its first driver (Bruno Senna) and car (they're yet to give it an official designation) ready for the 2010 Formula One season. After announcing that their 2010 challenger has passed the preliminary front and side crash tests of the FIA a couple of weeks ago, the team has now been informed by the FIA that their car received homologation for the next season.

Campos Grand Prix's chassis is built by Italian manufacturer Dallara, and the homologation process apparently took place at the company's very facilities in Parma, Italy. Campos has now officially become the first Formula One team to have a homologated car for next season, as the other outfits are yet to crash test their 2010 challengers in accordance to the FIA regulations.

The homologation of the cockpit is a critical point that defines the status and quality of a Formula 1 car. The fact of having our cockpit completely homologised puts us in a privileged position and allows us to keep on developing the car,” announced the team's technical director Toni Cuquerella.

Team boss Adrian Campos also showed his enthusiasm over the news, as this was a big hurdle to pass in order to continue his preparations for the 2010 campaign. While thanking Dallara for their good job during the past few months, the Spaniard insisted a lot is still to be done in order to come to the Bahrain opener with a competitive package.

I want to thank Dallara for the compromise shown in the task of fulfilling the original schedule. We still have a long journey in front of us but at this stage we are confident that we will be able to cover all the steps needed to make it with guarantees to the inaugural weekend of the season in Bahrain,” said Campos.

The team is yet to announce their second driver for the upcoming season, but hinted his name will be disclosed to the media before Christmas.
