California State Championship Road Racing Licenses Now Available

Racers in California can now purchase their California State Championship road racing series licenses, race organizers have announced today. The cost is $70, and covers reciprocity for the racer’s “away” races on the Championship race weekend. License holders are also eligible to win hosting club’s contingency, prizes, and cash awards offered that weekend.

The series consists of three rounds at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Infineon Raceway and Willow Springs International Raceway. Willow Springs Motorcycle Club, AFM and WERA West will each host a round of the championship series.

“We’ve had 3 inches of ice on the ground, the whole city has been shut down since Monday,"
stated Evelyne Clark, President, WERA Motorcycle Roadracing. "We’re hoping to get back into the offices by Monday, January 17 to finalize the schedule and fees. The sidecars will not be attending this round, so there is a time slot available. We need to work everything out, but the Ninja endurance is an idea that we like.

Organizers have also announced two other races that are being considered to run this year: the California State 4 hour Endurance Challenge and the California State Ninja 250 Two man Challenge 1-hour race.

“The 4 hour was a well received idea last year,” explained Shandra Crawford, Organizer, California State Championship. “However, because of the radical mechanical differences between a Ninja 250 and a liter class race bike in horsepower and cornering speed, I had concerns about rider safety, so I did not have a 250 class in the 4 hour. This year I would like to provide a class for the 250 riders to do some endurance racing that they could enjoy doing, and since the bike differentials are still a factor, I would like to give them their own race.”

California State Championship licenses include a metal hard card license, racer listing on website, product discounts and support from the series sponsors, and a series T-shirt. Information about sponsorship, membership and the specific class structures can be found at the following link.
