Cadillac Releases CTS-V Nurburgring Ad

After releasing a commercial for the Chevrolet Corvette that uses the “America still build rockets” line, the company has now come up with an ad for the Cadillac CTS-V.

Dubbed “The Competition” the commercial shows the CTS-V sedan hot-lapping the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The facts are simple: the CTS-V needs 7:59.32 to do the job. However, the marketing team behind the ad chose to use a unconventional approach to highlight Cadillac’s description of the car - “the world’s fastest production sedan”.

The commercial gives credit to two great go-fast sedans that have a long history on the market: the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. In addition to that, the CTS-V’s Nurburgring laptime isn’t shown as an outstanding achievement but as a starting point for future performance vehicle developments. Of course, the final aim is to crown the vehicle as the king of the speeding four-doors.

We went to Germany's Nurburgring to challenge ourselves on the most demanding track in the world. With us, in spirit, was every great car that we'd ever competed with. The BMW M5. And the Mercedes-Benz E63. For it was their amazing abilities that pushed us to refine, improve and, ultimately, develop the world's fastest production sedan. The CTS-V, from Cadillac. The New Standard Of The World,” stated the video’s official description.
