Before our team of carparazzi spotted the mysterious prototype announcing a future Cadillac flagship, several reports informed that the luxury carmaker is cooking up something to take on the best Germany has to offer in the full-size luxury car segment.
Considering that a lot of months have passed since the first prototype of the yet-to-be-named luxury flagship has been spotted, engineers are most likely fine tuning the thing at the present moment. An older report citing a Caddy insider informs that the veil will be taken off the new Cadillac next April, at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Known internally as the "01SL" and dubbed LTS by the auto media, the model will slot over the XTS sedan.
After all, the new flagship is a make-or-break model for Cadillac, a brand that has been losing the sales volume war in America to the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. So yeah, you can expect A8 / 7 Series / S-Class-rivaling bits and bobs. As for styling, there's a big chance that the LTS will borrow a few design cues from concepts such as the Elmiraj, Ciel and Sixteen. Whatever designers will go for, it's certain that such a model will boast with amazing aesthetic flare, sharply angled rear pillars and everything we love about modern Cadillacs.
Speaking to a reporter from AutomotiveNews at an event on Tuesday, GM global product chief Mark Reuss declared: "If we're a serious luxury carmaker, it's really important to us. This is a car that Cadillac needs, that will define its brand in terms of innovation and excellence. That's the mission." Here's hope Mr. Reuss' expectations will be properly materialized in the finished product by Caddy's design and engineering teams, so that the new model will be a landmark nameplate of what all-American luxury is all about.
