When Chevrolet launched the C7 for the 2014 model year, the seventh Corvette since 1953 used to retail at $51,995 or $1,400 more than the sixth generation. Then the starting price leveled up to $55,995 for the 2015 model year, which gets us to the C8.
All-new from the ground up by somewhat familiar thanks to the small-block V8, the eighth generation of the breed is $59,995 including destination charge in the United States of America. Motor Trend claims that won’t be the case for 2021, citing “a well-placed source” with knowledge of the increase in the suggested retail price.

“We don't know exactly how much the base price will go up on the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, but the plan to raise it doesn't surprise us.” Toyota is one of the best examples we can think of right now, hiking up the 4Runner TRD Pro by $2,975.

In a day and age where the Shelby GT500 can be optioned to (and beyond) $100,000, it was expected of Chevrolet to change the pricing of the Corvette with each and every passing year. While still affordable, the sub-$60k sticker on the current model doesn’t include goodies such as the Z51 package and carbon-fiber parts.

The ‘Vette is a bargain nevertheless, more so if you remember that a sub-$70k vehicle is capable of hitting 60 mph in under three seconds thanks to 495 horsepower from a naturally aspirated engine. One of the secrets to this acceleration is the dual-clutch transmission, a first for General Motors developed with the help of Tremec.

"Corvette has always represented the pinnacle of innovation and boundary-pushing at GM. The traditional front-engine vehicle reached its limits of performance, necessitating the new layout,"
declared Mark Reuss at the grand reveal. "In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history.”

If you were wondering, the mid-engine sports car will arrive at dealerships nationwide in early 2020.
