‘Butt Hole Road’ Residents Changed the Street’s Name

It was about time for changing the Butt Hole road name, since its residence had only unpleasant repercussions because of it.

From the young groups who made rude jokes about it to many delivery companies that simply refused to know of its existence, the residents had enough reasons to despair.

"We'd heard every single gag there is and we'd had enough. We've had people flashing their bottoms for photographs by the drive, we've had people ringing us up with hilarious jokes about the street name and then we've had those who just don't believe us,"  Paul Allot, a former resident, was quoted as saying by the The Daily Mail.

“All the other street names around here are quite sensible. I just can't see why they didn't call it Butt Hall Road, or something like that. I've no idea why it was named like this,”
Mr. Allot added.

Changing the name to a more normal Archers Way was imminent and just a matter of time. After having spent £300 to change their address, an Internet petition has already been started to change the road’s name back again.

Elizabeth Brennan, 77, who uses the street for access to her home, said: “It was a bit tedious having the street laughed at all the time. The new name is much nicer.”

This is not the first time when councilors banned a road from having an “aesthetically unsuitable” name as in August last year, they banned a road named The Fighting Cocks. Several other rude street names are expected to be banned as well: Gaswork Road, Tip House and Coalpit Lane. However, names such as Juggs Road and Cockshut Road may be allowed to stay after all.
