Buick LaCrosse Post Sales Record in April

The new 2010 Buick LaCrosse has registered its best retail month in April, continuing to be one of the vehicles that drives Buick’s growth (the company has registered seven consecutive months of year to year sales increases).

The LaCrosse saw its sales reach a total of 4,722 units in April, a figure that can be translated into a 237 percent increase compared to the one posted in the same month of 2009. The figure represents a 153 percent increase for the calendar-year-to-date.

A total of 27,000 units of the model have been sold since it was introduced in the summer of last year. As a result of the strong demand, GM has decided to add a third shift to the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, where the LaCrosse is produced.

“We are pleased to see that the LaCrosse had its best retail sales month in April and the vehicle continues to sell three times faster than the model it replaced,” said Roger McCormack, Buick marketing director. “The demand for the LaCrosse is showing no signs of slowing down, and proves that buyers are searching for a premium vehicle without the premium price.

The vehicle is continuing the trend started by the Enclave model: the car is repositioning Buick on the market, as it is attracting younger and more affluent customers to the brands. Almost 42 percent of buyers are trading non-GM brands, and of those clients trading in a non-GM car 22 percent are trading in an import model. In addition to that, the 2010 LaCrosse has seen its residual value increase by almost 20 percent, compared to the model it replaces.
