Brabus is a company that usually makes headlines for tuning Mercedes-Benz models. However, that is just a part of their business, which was expanded a few years ago with a pleasing activity - restoring classic cars.
Brabus showcased several cars that underwent their “six-star restoration” at the 28th Techno-Classica event in Essen (Germany). For those who have not been able to visit the event, Brabus had the courtesy of publishing a photo gallery of the exhibits. And we are so happy that they did.
Before you feast your eyes on the photo gallery of this article, you must know that a “six-star” restoration requires up to 4,000 man-hours of work, as Top Gear notes. That is serious work, and those who desire the full refurbishment of a classic car should understand this.
Owners who have performed milder restorations through other vendors already know the difficulties that can appear in this process, but Brabus handles them all in their service.
So, instead of the owner spending nights searching for parts on eBay, there’s someone at Brabus doing that as a full-time job. Sort of, because they can build the parts themselves if they are not commercially available.
Brabus’ Classic department was opened in 2013, and it caters to the restoring and servicing needs of vintage Mercedes-Benz models. Fans of the Stuttgart brand probably know by now that it has a distinct department for classic cars, but the latter does not perform full restorations for just about any vehicle brought at the gates.
Brabus disassembles each car to the last components, and throws out anything that cannot be serviceable. Naturally, all gaskets, seats, consumables, and other elements are replaced with new parts, while others are fully restored.
The body receives a catalytic dip primer coating to avoid rust, and the rolling gear is completely refurbished. Brabus has so much faith in their work that they provide a two-year warranty with unlimited mileage for the classics they restore.
