BMW’s ‘Born Electric’ World Tour Set to Start this June, in Rome

BMW is organizing a year-long tour in which their two new ‘green’ offerings will be showcased, despite the fact that they are blue. Apparently, BMW consider that their ‘i’ line hasn’t gotten enough exposure world wide, and they need to show their concepts again.
Kicking off the tour will be Rome, in June, being followed by Dusseldorf in September, then Tokyo in October with New York in November completing the list of events for this year. In 2013, the tour will continue in Paris in March 2013 and Shanghai in June of the same year. With the production versions of the (all electric or range extender hybrid) i3 and the (plug-in hybrid) i8 set to go on sale in 2013, the tour is a perfect solution to remind the world of BMW’s technological prowess before the launch of all-new range of cars.

Honestly, we’re a little less interested in the tour itself, and a little more interested in the actual production cars finally being shown in public and driven by the public, and with one year left until their official launch, they must be ready by now, at least for some sort of photo shoot event, or something. Sadly, nobody at BMW has leaked any pictures of the cars so, until they are unveiled, we’re left with the two concepts and nothing more.
