BMW Z5 Concept Dreamed Up by Turkish Designers

For a car concept the ultimate appreciation level is reached when an actual car manufacturer decides to turn the vehicle into reality. The expected applause were finally heard by Ismet Cevik and Fatih Tezel, the design team of Nobile-OT, regarding their concept for a futuristic mid-engine supercar. Their concept was picked up by BMW who will launch a production model of the car in 2013. The Turkish concept will be named BMW Z5.

The German manufacturers were impressed by the solid conceptual study and decided to take the proposal as a seriously viable project. The concept came right into place as the car manufacturer’s V8/V12-engined 2-door, 2+2 coupe segment was left untouched since BMW decided the discontinuation of the 8 series in 1999. The present concept aims to rival other models, like the Audi R8 supercar, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Porsche 911 with its distinct design which will make it stand apart from the crowd.

The Z5 concept does not go very far away in matter of design from the 8-Series overall, but it manages somehow to take it to the next level, keeping in mind that it has to catch up to the evolution it missed. The concept features eye-catching dynamics which highlight the upcoming of a new breed BMW.

It also features a light weight frame and has integrated successfully the hybrid technology which is a must considering the eco-friendly direction all car manufacturers are embracing. With a mid-mounted 4.0-liter engine fitted behind the cockpit, the car is expected to develop up to 480 hp. The design team still hasn’t released any more info about the concept car but chances are that the Z5 will move forward towards becoming a star worthy revealing.
