BMW Wins Greenest Manufacturer Award

Whoever said that automakers need to go hybrid in order to get greener was dead wrong. The proof is right here: BMW Group, who’s line up does not include a hybrid car, was awarded the “Greenest Manufacturer of the Year Award” by UK’s Green-Car-Guide.com.

BMW was awarded as it had the biggest impact on lowering CO2 emission in the United Kingdom throughout the course of the last year.

“In keeping with Green-Car-Guide’s core philosophy, the focus of our Award is on best-in-class low emission cars, but the cars should also be great to drive, so the BMW Group offers an ideal range of vehicles to meet the criteria of the award,” said Paul Clarke, Founder and Managing Editor of Green-Car-Guide.com.

“I’m delighted to receive this award which represents further acknowledgement of BMW Group’s class-leading advances in this sector, which is helping to reduce costs for businesses and company car users. We won a plethora of green awards in 2009 and hope to continue this trend with the launch in 2010 of innovative products such as the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon and its 109g/km CO2 emissions figure,”
said Stephen Chater, Corporate Operations Manager, BMW Group UK about the award.

BMW is no stranger to this award, as the manufacturer received this distinction for the second time in the las three years. The German automaker alongside MINI is highly appreciated for its fuel-saving and emissions-reducing EfficientDynamics technologies across its entire range as standard.
