As you probably found out earlier this week, Google is no longer Google. The company is now the biggest asset of larger holding that goes by the name Alphabet. This move was done to separate the various areas of expertise the software giant is involved in.
We won’t go into details as we’re pretty sure the American company has plenty of experts on its payroll that told them if this is a good move or not but we are in the business of telling you absolutely everything about BMW and this following piece is as funny as it gets in the auto industry.
Apparently (we’re saying apparently because, at the time of the writing, the alphabet.com website was down), the Germans published a list of reasons why the website can’t be sold to Google right now. As you can see in the adjacent picture, the found a word for every letter, one that would be connected to the auto industry.
A is for Automotive, B is for BMW, C is for Customers and K is for Keyless are just some of the examples you could find on the alphabet.com website for a short period of time.
This comes after various analysts said that it would be seen as a sign of weakness from the new entity that it doesn’t have a .com web page with its name in front. At the moment, the site you have to go to to reach Alphabet is abc.xyz which is nifty and creative but still no cigar.
In the meantime, as BMW investigates if the new name infringes on its trademark and copyrights, the disputed website is still used by its fleet management services subsidiary. Furthermore, on more than one occasion, spokespersons for the brand said that the Munich-based company has no plans to sell the domain, at least for now. On the other hand, Google doesn’t really seem to care all that much.
