The previous month proved to be yet another record breaker for the Bavarian manufacturer. After selling 139,161 vehicles on a global scale, BMW regained the number one spot in the luxury manufacturer's top after Audi claimed it in April.
In May, Audi sold just 137,200 units, registering a 6.4 percent increase, whilst Mercedes-Benz's sales grew by 7.3 percent to 121,360 units. both being shy of the 7.8 percent increase registered by our favorite brand.
The Inglostadt-based company managed to surpass BMW in the fourth month of the year but was still behind it, in the year-to-date top. So far, in 2013, BMW sold 651,168 units, 11,000 units more than Audi and 88,000 more than Mercedes-Benz.
Both of its rivals swore that this year is the one when they will surpass the propeller-badged company in sales and will be keeping their factories open over the 3 months of summer, to compensate for the continuously rising demands from Asia and America.
