The 44th edition of the “Ball des Sports” was held on Saturday, having a special theme, in tune with the 2014 Sochi Olympics. BMW Motorsport was on the scene, as usual.
This time, alongside the usual Motorsport Director, Jens Marquardt, Augusto Farfus and Timo Glock were also present on behalf of the Munich-based company.

Of course, the two drivers couldn’t resist trying out the specially installed ‘action stations’, showing off their skills that were quite brilliantly translated into the virtual world. Of course, apart from racing, they also tried out baseball, basketball and handball.

“The ‘Ball des Sports’ is always a great event. It’s a pleasure for us and our drivers as professionals to help our colleagues from other disciplines who aren’t able to make a living from competing in their sports,” said Marquardt.

Over 1,800 guests attended the event this year including big names from the worlds of politics, economics, sport and show business, that decided to show up and show their support for the Deutsche Sporthilfe foundation.

The three BMW representatives also presented the BMW Motorrad Maxi-Scooter C600 Sport in an exclusive M stripe design that was later given away in a raffle to one lucky winner.

“I’m really impressed by the event. It’s great to meet so many people from different disciplines and help those who aren’t able to earn enough money in their own sports. I think that’s really important. I enjoyed playing handball again, as I used to play it in school. I wasn’t that successful playing baseball, because I did it for the first time ever. But I hope to come back here next year and try again,” said Augusto Farfus.
