Apologetic Update: Sometimes, small errors might squeeze into my articles. This, however, isn't one of those times, as the Alfasud is FWD, not RWD, so I've modified the article (starting with the title) accordingly.
Some Ring Taxi laps are quicker than others, but the richest experience doesn't always come from flying around the Nordschleife as fast as possible.

Let's take the lap showcase in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, for instance. This sees an F80M3 Ring Taxi, a monstrously capable machine, coming across an Alfa Romeo Alfasud while doing its stuff on the Ring.

The Ring Taxi driver slowed down on purpose, allowing guy in the Alfasud to carve his way through the twists. According to a Facebook BTG fan, the Alfa was manhandled by a Scuderia-Hanseat driver - we're talking about a team offering performance driving training at the Green Hell, which would explain the proper hooning.

And with the said M3 being driven by Dale Lomas, who happens to run the BridgeToGantry (BTG) Facebook page, we can now give you the clip showing the encounter.

For the younger part of our audience, who might be wondering what all the fuss is about, we'll mention the Alfasud is Not car from back in the days when Alfa hadn't gone though the horrible front-wheel-drive era that has finally come to an end nowadays with the help of the Giulia and the upcoming RWD Giulietta.

Built between 1971 and 1989, the Alfasud may only pack 105 hp in its spiciest version, but its 800+ kg (1,800) featherweight nature and its rear-wheel-drive setup mean this is a compact that can deliver tons and tons of fun, especially on the track.

For one thing, the Alfa packs a low center of gravity, while its boxer four-cylinder engines have the kind of soundtrack that can keep an aficionado on his or her toes.

Don't worry, though, the Ring Taxi did come across a Ring sprinter of its own size later in the lap, as you'll be able to see behind the "play" button below.
