BMW is taking the fight to the Range Rover Evoque with the new X4, their first medium compact Sports Activity Coupe, going on sale next year.
The X4 was previewed as a concept earlier this year, but that was a thinly veiled, 90% production-ready vehicle. We know it's pretty much the same size as the X3, but never got to see the two side by side… until now.
The two non-identical twins have been spotted together at a private facility in Germany, allowing us to see the differences between them. The X4's design appears to be an evolution of its more practical brother's. The major changes between the two are above the door handles, where the X4 has a sloping roof line. This has affected the rear quarter glass and its taillights, which are smaller.
Also look out for that beefier front end, a likely indication of the M Sport trim level.
