BMW CSI Concept Design Study

We've witnessed in the past two years or so a flood of wannabe car designers, who use computer programs to generate at times interesting concepts, at times not so interesting ones. BMW is perhaps one of the most restyled, redone, reworked brands by these designers and, we must admit, we've seen quite a bundle of great concepts being created.

Not sure about this one, though. Created by Romanian Marius Apintiliesei, the car, so far called CSI Concept, is a strange blend of the 1970's BMWs and modern design, all wrapped into a body that looks like it was created in the back yard. But let's let the designer explain.

“I want to reintroduce the CSI Concept into this unique project that redefines BMW design and brings more aggressiveness into a new era; the nose grills, headlights, the bumpers, taillights, and fine design lines, brings out the sportiness, efficiency, power in a BMW”,
Marius Apintiliesei was quoted as saying by BMWblog.

Now, as you might have figured it out by now, we're not too keen on this one. Compare it for instance with the Sports Coupe Concept created by Russian rendering artists Igor Krasnov. By compare it we mean, of course, from the design skills standpoint, and not car vs car.

The only part of the CSI concept that pleases our eyes more than the rest is the front end of the car. A front end which brings back the feel of the CSI, while keeping it in line with the modern BMW approach.
