BMW Appoints Wieland Bruch Communications Manager

German manufacturer BMW announced today their Product Communications will be headed, starting September 7, by Wieland Bruch, who will take the post left vacant by Mark Harrison.

The new communications manager will be responsible for all aspects of BMW and MINI product communications and he will lead the teams on both brands. He will report to Graham Biggs, Corporate Communications Director.

"Wieland joins the department from the communications team in Munich where he has worked on a wide range of product communications and brings a wealth of experience, particularly in technical matters," BMW said in a release.

"With his engineering background and a recent focus on BMW EfficientDynamics, alternative powertrains and on the international launch of the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, Wieland is perfectly placed to help build a wider understanding of the company’s new technologies and vehicle concepts in the UK."

The new appointment comes just in time for the Frankfurt Auto Show, which opens next month in Germany. The German manufacturer will be showcasing there of its latest models, including the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 and BMW ActiveHybrid X6, the 5 Series GT and the BMW X1.

The star of the event will however be the new green sports car concept. So far known as the Z Vision Concept, the new green BMW will be a "product of sustainable development."

"The BMW EfficientDynamics Vision will demonstrate how efficient a sports car can be. It will also prove that sustainability does not apply to the drive train alone, but to design and materials as well," BMW said.
