Yesterday, in a ceremony that was both luxurious and tasteful, BMW launched the biggest 3 Series model in its current line-up, the Gran Turismo, in China.
As the Chinese cherish every inch of additional space, the GT will definitely be a top-seller in the communist country even though its price starts at CNY445,000 ($72,333).
At first, the only 3 variants that will be available are the 320i, 328i and 335i models. The first two are using the same 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with different power outputs (184 HP for the first one and 245 HP for the second) whilst the latter will be using the N55 3-liter unit with 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque.
All models will come equipped with the 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard and, unlike the 3 Series Sedan that is locally assembled at the BMW-Brilliance plant in Shenyang, all of them will be imported.
