There’s all kind of new models rumored to be coming from BMW, and not all of them can come into the world at the same time. Heck, some are probably nothing more than speculation. The 6-Series will get an extra pair of doors soon, that part we are almost sure of, what we don’t see as being so waterproof are the 2- and 4-Series.
BMW Blog recently got hold of couple of interesting renderings from autobild.de, one of which is for the 2-Series coupe. While similar to the current coupe, some new design trends are indicated by the more masculine lines and bigger better proportions. The convertible model will continue offering the lighter soft-top roof and clean design lines without compromising looks and performance.
Why would there ever be 2-Series? The answer to that question comes from the fact that the 1er is expected to only come as a five-door and three-door variants. So BMW will more the coupe and convertible up a number, in order to separate the Performance and sportier body shape.
While this means that the 1-Series would be free to switch to front-wheel drive, the coupe would also be free to focus on performance alone, which we think the model deserves, as it turned the 1er’s image from that of an overpriced hatch to something worthy of the propeller badge. Does that mean we’ll get an M2? Who knows, but BMW would be free to name it that.
BMW will also be able to bypassing the need for overcrowding with the segment of the new 1-Series hatchback.
For now, BMW is really busy with the 1-Series and 3-Series, both of which are expected within the next year, so we’ll have to wait a bit, but it could be worth it.
