Bentley Working On Entry-Level Model, to Arrive by 2020

Bentley may be on track to offer us its SUV in 2017, but this is not the only new model line included in the company’s plans. Bentley also wants to offer us an entry-level model as its fith model line, as revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

While Bentley sees a smaller car as the best candidate for its future development, the company explained that “smaller doesn’t necessarily mean cheaper”. Thus, regardless of the fresh development’s details, do not expect the car to be offered under the GBP 100,000 mark. Bentley explained that the new car would arrive by the end of the decade.

A more affordable Bentley would make full sense, allowing the company to expand its sales even futher - the last few years have shown us how Bentley embraced a more down-to-earth philosophy. For instance, the company started offering the twin-turbo V8 engine co-developped with Audi on more than just one model.

Despite this, Bentley is also considering an expansion at the other engine of its vehicle line-up. This would mean the Brits could build a model slotted above the Mulsanne. Such an offering would go head to head with Rolls Royce’s Phantom.

Still, building a business case for a vehicle with such a low sales volume potential is difficult, so the fate of the project remains unclear at the moment.
