Barrichello Hits at Hamilton's Weaving in Malaysia

Lewis Hamilton's excessive weaving ahead of Renault's Vitaly Petrov during the Malaysian Grand Prix doesn't seem to be a closed subject for the F1 drivers prior to this weekend's race in China. The 2008 F1 champion tried to defend his position too hard on Sepang's main straight but was only handed a warning by the stewards, despite the fact that the FIA rulebook suggests a penalty for weaving cases.

Obviously, this decision raised a lot of eyebrows within the Renault F1 Team officials, but also within Hamilton's fellow racers. Veteran driver Rubens Barrichello was among the first drivers to take a stand on this issue on Thursday, insisting that Ham broke a gentleman's agreement between F1 drivers in Malaysia.

When I saw it I was by myself watching the TV and I was quite critical of it. It he was beside me I would have given him some bollocking because it wasn't right,” said Barrichello on Thursday, as reported by Autosport.

There are arguments to cover that, to say that he was under acceleration, not in the braking area. There are so many things that they could come up with, but the drivers have an agreement, sort of an agreement, obviously a verbal agreement, nothing that has been signed, that you should move only once during the protection of your line.”

So that for me was a Formula Ford thing. It shouldn't have been done, to be honest,” added the Brazilian driver.

Despite the intense criticism over his move, Hamilton did not issue any apology or simply a statement after the Malaysian Grand Prix.
