Being one of the most iconic shapes in the automotive industry, you’d think that something like the Mercedes Benz 300 SL could never be left sitting unloved and unseen for 37 years in a Greek garage.
Yet that’s exactly what the 1960 300 SL you see here is, a barn find from Greece, and it’s even a Roadster with the original hard-top in place. According to Highoctane.gr, it was sitting in the city of Piraeus. Since the owner died in 1974 and has no legal hairs, the municipality came into possession of it.
As the story goes, it has now been auctioned off and bought by an avid collector for the sum of €405,000 ($561,303 US). The new owner says that it won't take much work to bring it back to its original condition.
