Have you ever wondered where Hollywood gets the ideas for all movies about robbing convoys filled with money? It's because banks really do transport money in trucks.
This following video was shot in 2011 but is only now getting the attention it deserves on Youtube. Several police motorcycles can be seen stopping Parisian traffic. In their wake, four armored Scania 124L 420 trucks come with their own sirens.

The guy who uploaded the video assures us that the trucks belong to the Bank of France and are either transporting money or gold. But what if he's wrong?

It's a trick, you see. The trucks are filled with angry Dobermans and booby traps. Meanwhile, the money is actually being transferred.

So how much money are we talking about? Well, one million dollars in 100 dollar bills weigh almost 10 kilos. But in 500 euro bills (the largest available), the same sum weighs less than 2 kg. So if we extrapolate those numbers, a billion euros would be just under two tons.

Of course, even though the Scania trucks can carry 10 tons, money is made of paper, which isn't very dense. But if each truck is loaded with a single billion, we're still looking at four billion euros.

What could you buy with that kind of cookie dow? A country like Dominica (total national wealth of $5.5 billion), about half a dozen of those B-2 stealth bombers or a few thousand supercars. In fact, you could probably buy all the cars you can name if you exclude those rare ones like the Bugatti Type 47SC or Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.
