When you hear the name “Bambi”, the first thing that comes to mind is Disney’s cute little white-tailed dear, a character that entered the world almost 70 years ago. So, it would be pretty difficult to put it in the same sentence with the word “facelift”. However, in the automotive world the association between the two comes natural, as Bambi is the name of a special trailer, produced by the European arm of Airstream.

The Bambi 422 trailer (this is the full name) has been redesigned for 2010 and is being presented at the UK’s National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show. The caravan has been engineered for the twisty European roads, being the most compact and nimble model in the manufacturer’s range.

We are really pleased with how the redesign has worked. There is now an exposed aluminum interior and front panoramic windows, which must make it the cutest trailer on the market,” said Michael Hold, sales director at Airstream Europe - judging by the adjective used, we can say that there is a marketing connection between the caravan and the little dear.

What’s great about the Bambi is its size and practicality: It has a MIRO* weight of 1080kg and loaded towing weight MTPLM** of just 1320kg so you don’t need to own a 4x4 to tow one. The VW Golf Diesel 2.0 and BMW 330i are just two examples of vehicles that are more than capable of towing her and it’s great to be able to just hitch up and go,” Hold added.

The trailer offers a spacious L-shaped lounge, mid-room and end washroom that includes a vacuum flush toilet and a shower that is suitable for people up to 1.82 m high (six feet).

We like the Bambi 422’s design but we are disappointed with the fact that the press release didn’t mention anything about big brown eyes than reach your emotional side.

*MASS IN RUNNING ORDER (MIRO) - The weight of the caravan equipped to the manufacturer's standard specification.
**MTPLM The maximum allowed weight of the caravan.
