Aussie BMW X1 Range Expands, Pricing Released

Two petrol models recently joined the Australian Sports Activity Vehicle line-up which is set to officially go on sale there on April 10, with a starting price of AU$43,500. Aside from the two diesel models previously announced for Australia, xDrive20d and X1 xDrive23d, BMW has confirmed an entry-level BMW X1 sDrive18i.

BMW has also announced it will offer a rear wheel drive version of the two-litre diesel, namely the X1 sDrive20d, which consumes 44.4 mpg (5.3 l/100 km) and emits 139 g/km of CO2.

The new entry level engine is powered by a 110 kW four-cylinder petrol engine featuring fully variable VALVETRONIC valve management, variable double-Vanos camshaft adjustment and an adjustable intake system.

The unit develops maximum output at 6,400 rpm and delivers peak torque of 200 Nm at 3,600 rpm, accelerating the BMW X1 sDrive18i from standstill to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds.

BMW Australia will also offer a 160 kW straight six-cylinder petrol powered X1 xDrive25i. Featuring a composite magnesium/aluminium crankcase, as well as double-Vanos and VALVETRONIC valve management, the BMW X1 xDrive25i delivers peak torque of 280 Nm at 2,500 rpm.

Featuring BMW’s intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive technology as standard as well as six-speed automatic transmission, the BMW X1 xDrive25i is able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The new BMW X1 was among the models that achieved the highest score at recent Euro NCAP crash tests, thanks to its comprehensive standard safety features and an effective system of vehicle occupant protection which covers different types of collision.
