As we already told you about two weeks ago, Audi developed a unique TT-based concept car for the 2013 Worthersee festival. Dubbed ultra quattro concept, the new German showcar is 300 kg (661 lbs) lighter than the current generation production version.
The impressive weight loss, which resulted in a power-to-weight ratio of 3.6 kg/HP, was possible thanks to a lighter body structure, optimized detachable body parts and the use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer and magnesium. However, the concept car kept its air conditioning and electric windows.
Powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI engine delivering 310 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, the sportscar is able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in only 4.2 seconds, while top speed is rated at 280 km/h (173 mph). As far as the visuals are concerned, the TT concept gained a large spoiler, carbon fiber wing, R8 GT bucket seats and a special crystal white paint job.
Scheduled to be introduced at Worthersee, in Austria, as we speak, the TT ultra quattro concept was showcased with the help of skilled German racing driver Andre Lotterer, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Audi in 2011 and 2012. Besides de video, the German automaker also released a new set of photos, which can be found below.
