Audi is preparing quite a big punch for the mid-size luxury segment, a league where both BMW and Mercedes currently play with new toys, while the four-ringed brand has to make due with the aging A6.
The VW Group brand is preparing to launch a new generation of the A6 and has now released a teaser image of the vehicle. As you can see, the car is hiding under a white sheet, so we don’t receive any new styling details.
However, the big news is that Audi has announced that the new A6 will come to the world via the company’s Neckarsulm site, joining the A8, A8 L (long wheelbases version), R8 Spyder and A7 Sportback models that are currently being produced there. The A6 will start rolling off the production line by the end of the current year, which means that we can expect the sedan to come to the market early next year.
The next incarnation of the A6 will drop the current platform (the Volkswagen Group C chassis) for a MLB setup (Audi’s Modular Longitudinal Platform).
From what we can tell by a previously-released set of spy-shots (you can see the images in the gallery bellow), the A6 is expected to come with a more aggressive styling, especially when it comes to the rear fascia.
Under the hood of the upcoming A6, we will be able to find multiple fuel-efficient powerplants, including a supercharged 3.0 liter V6, as well as multiple TDI units.
