Natural Aspiration... a feature that allows an engine to offer a linear power delivery, an asset that can prove to be a key one when taking your vehicle to a racetrack and is also a true pleasure on the road.
However, in their pursuit of lower CO2 emissions, many performance automotive producers seem to have forgotten all about this purity, as they are worshiping the forced induction God. However, there are still some companies that like to deliver their vehicles with an aura of linearity and Aston Martin is one of the greatest representatives of this elite.
The British carmaker has confirmed that it is the creator of the most powerful naturally aspirated road car engine in the world. The company is letting us know that the 7.3 liter V12 engine that superpowers its One-77 model has been certified at 750 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
The price of owning a package for the apocalyptic V12 surpasses the 1.2 million pounds ($1.87M or EUR1.43M) mark, but various rumors indicate that over half of the vehicle’s 77 units production is already reserved, with the other half also having a waiting list.
“The One-77 is approaching a production reality and of course, there is considerable excitement in the project. Now the next steps are all about details and refinement to complete the composition. I know the final car will demonstrate what the Aston Martin team is capable of,” said Dr. Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin. The chosen ones will start becoming One with their vehicles in early 2011.
Aston Martin has also released the fourth part of the One-77 YouTube saga, You can enjoy the “living art” in motion bellow.
P.S. Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love turbos and superchargers (we like it best when they join forces), but we want to know that the powerful naturally aspirated engines aren’t becoming an extinct species.
