Anthony Davidson Will Test for Audi in the DTM

Yet another Formula One driver might find his way into the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) for the 2010 season. However, we're not talking about a veteran F1 driver who wanted to continue his racing career with some decent action in the German series, but about someone who has always been regarded as having the necessary talent to make it in F1. Unfortunately, he lacked the money and a bit of luck.

We're talking about former Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson, who had to put an end to his Formula One career after his team went bankrupt in the early stages of the 2008 season. Ever since, the 30-year old has been attempting to find a racing seat in the series, but failed every time.

Under the circumstances, looking for a job elsewhere has become increasingly appealing to Davidson, who now looks with interest to a potential campaign in the DTM, alongside Audi. The customer teams using machines from the German marque are yet to confirm their lineups for the 2010 season, but they'll have at least one spot open after Oliver Jarvis replaced Tom Kristensen in the works' team (the latter left the series at the end of last year)

I would definitely be interested in racing in the DTM; it's something I've got my eye on. If I was given a chance to do it I would. They invited me to come and do the test and you can't turn down a company like Audi,” revealed Davidson in the latest edition of Autosport magazine.

I've always wanted to drive a DTM car, so this has been a good experience,” added the British driver, after admitting that he did not succeed in finding a job in the Formula One series through the past 18 months.

However, according to recent reports in the German and British media, it seems Davidson will have some serious competition for an Audi seat next year – even if with a customer team – as it appears David Coulthard is also interested in the job. However, DC is yet to confirm anything – his deal would only come through sponsors Red Bull, partners of Audi in the DTM – while Davidson seems to already put his efforts into securing a DTM programme next year.
