An SLR McLaren Convoy is a Sight to Remember in the Alps

It's not everyday that the villagers in the Swiss countrysides of the Alps get to see a convoy made almost exclusively of Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens, in all their diversity.

Because diversity could very well be a tag line for what is regarded as the most comfortable and luxurious GT supercar in the last decades.

No less than six different models compose the range of the SLR McLaren, with the final car having been manufactured back in 2012.

At first, it was just the SLR McLaren Coupe, joined soon after by its Roadster version. To compliment the starting time of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR at the 1955 Mille Miglia, Mercedes-Benz also made a 722 Edition of the Coupe and a 722 S version of the Roadster.

The most extreme limited edition, seen by many as the final SLR, was the SLR Stirling Moss Edition. With no roof and no windscreen to protect its occupants it is also the fastest road-going SLR thanks to a lower weight and much better aerodynamics.

The final version of the SLR was the McLaren Edition, made by then Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 partner. Unfortunately, you can see only a few of the models in the alpine road photos bellow, but the cars of the official SRL Club are in the hundreds, many of which recently took place in the Tour Des Alpes event this weekend.
