AMG Driving Academy Races into China

As China is now the world’s biggest automotive market, the carmakers are making efforts to cater for the country’s specific needs. Combine this with the concept of performance driving and you’ll get a fun go-fast cocktail. This is exactly what Mercedes’s AMG is doing, as the company is introducing its special driving courses to Chinese customers.

The AMG Driving Academy’s operations in the country will debut with two sessions that will be held between November 19 and 24 on the Shanghai International Circuit, with approximately 150 AMG customers and enthusiasts having already signed up.

The company will hold entry-level (BASIC) training sessions between November 19 and 22, while ADVANCED training course will take place between November 22 and 24.

Participants to the BASIC training courses will assimilate in professional surroundings the know-how required for their first laps at the limit. The ADVANCED training course focuses on honing driving skills and promoting a sporty driving style – key areas covered include cornering, the ideal line as well as the braking point,” explained the press release.

The list of training vehicles includes an SLS AMG, SL 63 AMG, a C 63 AMG with Performance Package Plus and an SLK 55 AMG. The company plans to offer three racetrack training course for China next year, with the participants being able to choose between an SLS AMG or a C63 AMG.

"China is also a fast-growing market for AMG. And not only are our AMG high-performance vehicles in ever greater demand, but our Chinese customers are also increasingly asking for racetrack training courses. I am proud that we can now also offer Chinese AMG fans a unique product and brand experience with the AMG Driving Academy," says Ola Kallenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
