Alonso Recommends Kubica to Renault

After securing his Formula One future with the Ferrari F1 Team, Fernando Alonso now tries to think what would be his best replacement at Renault. Although switching teams at the end of the ongoing season, Alonso admitted that he will leave Enstone with regret, as he won no less than 4 championship titles and 21 Grands Prix during his stay with the French manufacturer.

Therefore, it's only natural that he's taking a personal interest in what will happen to Renault after his departure. Talking to the media in Suzuka earlier today, the 2-time world champion insisted that Bob Bell should immediately book Polish driver Robert Kubica for 2010, as he considers the BMW Sauber driver one of the best in the business.

He is one of my best friends and one of the best drivers. If there is a chance then I would recommend him,” said Alonso prior to the Japanese Grand Prix.

Kubica was heavily linked with a move to Renault in recent weeks, shortly after Santander inked a deal with Ferrari (therefore partially confirming Alonso's exit from Enstone). However, when questioned about his future plans in Formula One, the Pole hinted that there are more than 2 options to continue his F1 career next year.

One of those options is clearly Renault, while the other would be remaining with the Sauber team for one more season.

There are some talks but no decision is final at the moment,” said Kubica, who also hinted that there are close to 100 percent chances of landing the deal he's after for next season. Renault, on the other hand, revealed that they will confirm Alonso's replacement in one week time.
