As we've reported earlier this week, Chinese authorities have warned the representatives traveling to the country for F1 purposes (officials of the series and media) to be very careful with the food in Shanghai and bring their own bottled water, due to risk of radiation caused by the nuclear disaster at Fukushima.
In addition, some farmers on the Chinese territory have used animal meat steroid clenbuterol – in order to speed up and increase muscle mass in animals – and consuming “meat, eggs and milk” could come with a risk of doping.
According to the aforementioned source, Alonso has been taking those warnings very seriously and reportedly eats only rice boiled in mineral water. The Spaniard also consumes energy bars and brushes his teeth with bottled water, in addition to taking very short showers.
The exact opposite example is represented by Alonso's countryman Jaime Alguersuari, who told the media in China that he's not taking any additional precautionary measures in the wake of the nuclear threat coming from Japan.
“That's the first I've heard of it. I am eating normally, as I would at home or in Australia,” said the Scuderia Toro Rosso driver.
