Alain Prost Finishes Third in Alpe d'Huez Trophee Andros Stage

Alain Prost and his Dacia Duster continue to perform well in Trophee Andros, recording another finish on the podium at the latest Alpe d'Huez race. The French driver scored the third fastest time in qualifying, after Franck Lagorce and Olivier Panis, while the second session saw the Duster setting the fastest lap of the day - 58.695s. Prost eventually finished in the second place after the same Panis.

"There's not much in it again at the sharp end of the leaderboard,"
the French driver said in a statement. "In the first session, I was just one or two-tenths of a second off the best time. Then, on the second run, patches of asphalt began to emerge in the hairpins and my tyres suffered. Our rivals managed their tyres a little better, but third place is a good result as far as the championship goes."

The second day of the Alpe d'Huez stage will take place on Saturday at 4:15 p.m., with the Dacia Duster to carry an additional 20 kg of ballast because of the third place the French driver scored in Day 1.

"The five races contested so far this winter have produced five different winners, which goes to show how close this Trophée Andros is proving. When it pans out like that, it is vital to be consistent in order to score as many points as possible at each round, and that's what we did today."

Here are the final standings after Day 1 of Alpe d'Huez:

1. Olivier Panis (Skoda Fabia)
2. Franck Lagorce (Skoda Fabia)
3. Alain Prost (Dacia Duster)
4. Jean-Luc Pailler (Series 1 BMW)
