Adam Carroll Signs Andretti Autosport Deal in the IndyCar

It's been a while since we haven't heard of Adam Carroll in the world of motor racing, as the Northern Irishman did not succeed in piggybacking his incredible season in the A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport last year. The 27-year old has completed programmes in several series so far – A1 GP, GP2, DTM, all in Europe – and is now looking to conquer the North American shores also.

According to a fresh statement from Andretti Autosport, Carroll will compete in selected events in the IndyCar Series from as early as this season. However, the team's boss Michael Andretti did not reveal the exact number of races the Irishman is going to contest in, or when his debut in the series will take place. The only thing we know is that it's going to happen in 2010 and the project will supposedly involve Carroll extending his IndyCar stay for a full season in 2011.

He is a special talent and someone who we believe will have a bright future with us at Andretti Autosport. It was important for us to give him an opportunity this year and start building for the years to come. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do later this year,” said Michael Andretti.

It is gratifying to know that the success I've enjoyed so far in my career has drawn the attention of a team owner like Michael Andretti. The IZOD IndyCar Series is clearly one of the most competitive formulas in the world right now and I'm looking forward to being introduced into the field later this year,” added Carroll.

For the time being, Andretti Autosport has the highest number of cars on the IndyCar grid, including Marco Andretti, Danica Patrick, Tony Kanaan and Ryan Hunter-Reay. Two weeks ago, at Long Beach, Hunter-Reay brought Andretti their first win this season, although his contract runs out at the end of this year's Indy 500 race. The team is still trying to set up a financial scheme to keep the Texan driver in their backyard for the entire duration of the 2010 season.
