A Papasan on Wheels Is the Best Idea Nobody Had Until Now

Before autonomous cars reach us and we can relax in the backseat while a robot takes care of the driving, this thing is the closest we can get to a perfectly relaxed commute.
Built upon what seems to be an electric wheelchair, this weird vehicle appears to be a ridiculous idea at first glance. I mean, sure, there were people putting their couches on wheels and going for a ride, but that was only in the movies. And it was for fun. They weren't actually using the resulting vehicle for day to day transportation. This couple from LA does just that.

And just as you're about to dismiss them as posing hipsters, you imagine yourself lying on that soft pillow. Your legs are stretched, resting on the added front piece, and you've rarely felt more relaxed. You're sitting in your favorite papasan, and yet you're out in the street, on your way to a local bar to meet with your friends. Sure, it's weird and it makes you feel like you've left home in your pajamas, but it also feels so damn good.

People will stare, but depending on the type of your personality, that can actually be a good thing. But unless you're passing in front of a spa center with very large windows, you can be sure that all those who see you cruising wish they were in your place. I know I'd trade even the softest car seat for a laid back comfortable Papasan chair, particularly as it would give me the chance to sit really close to my significant other (one of the car's major flaws).

Judging by all the available evidence, we'd say the couple is enjoying the attention they get, seeing how they're smiling in every picture taken. That should give us some food for thought: the reason we're depressed the moment we get to work is because we're not enjoying our time spent getting there. These people don't do it for the fame - that's just a side perk; they do it because it's fun, because they enjoy it and because it's good for their general wellbeing.

OK, the gauntlet has been thrown. The Papasan-mobile is getting lots of media exposure, so expect several similar vehicles to show up in the coming months. And as we all know, the more people get involved, the more the designs will evolve. It's just a matter of time until somebody installs a TV monitor, a beer cooler, and a PS4. I just hope they have a very long extension cable, because the battery will surely not last for long.
