A stunning outdoor cinema, a big jacuzzi, and a VIP stateroom that's so luxurious it becomes a second master suite -  everything sounds like the amenities of a young luxury yacht recently introduced at one of the major superyacht events of the year, yet that's not the case. All this and more is offered onboard an '80s veteran of the luxury yacht industry that proudly flaunts its Dutch pedigree.
Someone just became the lucky owner of a spacious pleasure craft that's classic and contemporary at the same time. He'll get to enjoy the best of both worlds: the sumptuous comfort and fun features of today's pleasure craft on the one hand and the unmistakable lines and proven transatlantic capabilities of a vintage yacht on the other hand. Delivered in 1987, Lionshare was refitted several times over the years, most recently just two years ago, meaning it was most likely in the best shape of its life at the time of this sale.

This is no anonymous beauty, either. It bears the DNA of one of the oldest Dutch yacht builders and one of the top superyacht builders today. These days, a brand-new Heesen is hardly accessible to regular yachting enthusiasts due to the exorbitant pricing. Some of the world's most famous and outrageous superyachts owned by well-known millionaires are built by Heesen. This makes vintage Heesens even more coveted.

You can see how getting a boat from this Dutch builder for less than $4 million could easily be considered a bargain. If it's almost four decades old, Lionshare is first a beautifully designed classic and, secondly, a revamped charter yacht that boasts all the luxuries of its contemporary counterparts. This wasn't even the old yacht's original price when it entered the market following its most recent refit. It had to drop $1 million to speed things up, and it still took a while to find a new owner, several months after the price cut.

Size-wise, Lionshare isn't technically a superyacht. Still, it's remarkably voluminous. At under 40 meters (130 feet), this 1987 Heesen can comfortably accommodate 12 guests and delight them with top-notch amenities. It's one of the few yachts to boast a lower-deck VIP stateroom with a king-sized bed, which can double as a second master suite. This is great for having two main groups or two families onboard at the same time. Plus, every cabin was carefully redecorated and restyled during the most recent refit.

The 2022 refit spruced up Lionshare's interiors and further enhanced its exterior spaces. This classic Heesen has the wide, open spaces of a contemporary yacht, including a bridge deck aft that can house an extensive al-fresco dining setup and double as an outdoor cinema.

With naval architecture by Mulder Design, Lionshare looks classic on the outside, which is something that true yachting connoisseurs will appreciate. On board, it reveals a modern wonderland for the ultimate family cruising. As a charter yacht, Lionshare was available for at least $130,000 per week. Considering it was refitted just two years ago, the new owner will most likely keep his new toy on the charter market without additional expenses on his part.

At the end of the day, a beautiful classic Dutch yacht is still in operation, and that's what matters the most.
