It's too early to tell, but the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé - GLC Coupé's bigger brother and the Stuttgart company's answer to the very successful BMW X6 sports activity coupé - doesn't seem to be so eagerly adopted by the market.
Without even scratching our heads, we can think of a number of reasons why this is happening: first of all, it will always be second, the copycat, the blatant attempt at stealing away some of the customers interested in the niche created by BMW. Second, it's built around the aging GLE SUV, a car that can't hide its true age no matter how much makeup it throws on. And, finally, let's be honest, it looks pretty weird.

The GLC Coupé doesn't have to worry about any of these matters. Yes, it too came after the BMW X4, but the time gap between the two is significantly shorter than the GLE Coupé situation. It's based on a new model and benefits from all the advantages this brings with it: modern technology, classy interior, clean design, you name it. And just as important as the rest of these aspects, it also looks quite well balanced.

The idea of an SUV with coupé-ish lines will still come as odd to some, but the smaller the car, the less out of place it seems. And since the GLC already has a sleek appearance - resembling the C-Class more than it should - you can almost say the dropped tailgate is a natural fit. Almost.

Mercedes-Benz is still keeping the rear of the car covered in the kind of camouflage that looks like a giant QR code, with the front bumper also under wraps. However, the camouflage does nothing to hide the overall shape of the car, and we do like what we're seeing.

Also, this is the first time we get a full view of the headlights. As the GLC Coupé sits patiently in the blizzard waiting for its turn to get moving, we can see the lamp graphics and the daytime running lights that, predictably, look just like the ones on a C-Class.

Just like the C-Class Cabrio or the Mercedes-AMG E63, the launching date for the GLC Coupé is yet to be set. But rest assured, we'll keep you posted as soon as more info transpires.
