The 2015 RM-Z450 comes with a 3-mode Holeshot Assist Control system, which is useful in controlling the power delivery when taking off. Mode A is great for smooth, controlled launches on less-than-ideal surfaces and it will alter the ignition to prevent excessive wheel slip. The engine parameters are restored to normal 1.2 seconds after take-off or when the third gear is engaged.

If riders believe they could use more power off the line, then Mode B is the best setting, as it provides increased grunt when launching. Mode B restores ignition settings 4.5 second after launch, when hitting the 4th gear or when closing the throttle. When the Holeshot Assist is off, no lights are visible, but riders can easily tell A from B from the flashing indicator: slow flashes for A, quick ones for B.

The bike also got frame revisions, a longer kick start lever and better decompression for easier starting, new Showa SFF air-adjustable front suspension which eliminates costly spring replacement and is also lighter. The bike retains the EFI Coupler System which allows riders to choose a richer or leaner air-fuel mixture for fast and precise adjustments according to the track conditions.

This 449cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, single cylinder, DOHC machine now weighs a feathery 112 kg (247 lbs) and will be available in Champion Yellow / Solid Black livery. Please check with your Suzuki dealer for availability and price, as the manufacturer’s website lists the 2015 RM-Z450 with a “TBA” price tag. Enjoy the showcase video below, featuring riding and voice from the multi-time Supercross and Motocross Champion Ricky Carmichael.
